Roast garlic, Bittman

Our kitchen has a single induction hotplate (the awesomely named Bajaj Majesty), a toaster oven and a microwave. This means that I am finally learning how to use the microwave for things other than reheating coffee. We eat a lot of garlic, and the Indian garlic is generally smaller and more difficult to peel than Australian garlic. Therefore, I’ve been using this technique to roast garlic in the microwave, so I can just pop the cloves out of their skins.

I’ve also downloaded the How to Cook Everything iPad app by Mark Bittman. It is awesome, and possibly one of the best apps I’ve seen for the iPad. Has timers, generates shopping lists, and the recipes are fantastically clearly written. Unlike many of the other iPad apps I have, may ultimately save me money.
